This is a really great video showing how LA Metro’s in-house ad agency improved the perception of public transportation and increased ridership.

Can you imagine how different transportation in America would be if mass transit spent anything close to the amount that the auto industry spends on advertising? For starters, people would no longer be afraid of it or unsure of how to use it. They might even think it’s cool or fun to ride, if not the smarter and more practical thing to do.

We all want to cut down on foreign oil, traffic congestion and air pollution, right? Maybe it’s time we stop subsidizing Big Oil and start putting some of those tax dollars toward promoting more efficient ways to get around.
